Rite Aid, San Mateo: 20 percent off merchandise; first Tuesday of the month

Ross Dress For Less, San Mateo: 10 percent off; Tuesdays; ages 55+

SuperCuts, San Mateo: $1 off; every day; ages 55+

Other restaurants, some hotels and car rental agencies also offer senior discounts, according to online directories. Some grocery stores have midweek discounts. Ask directly at specific locations.
